Local Volunteer Opportunity

Each year, there are around 200 children from the community near Dangkor landfill coming to Cambodian Organization for Living and Temporary-care (COLT) to study English and computer skills. Most of them study at public school, but some do not go to school. At COLT, the children can learn and play in a safe environment while their parents go to work to earn an income. The children can also join after-school activities like football, arts and life skill trainings in order to keep them away from negative influences.

For COLT it is important to have more and more local volunteers, teachers and interns getting involved. This both makes the organization less dependent on foreign activities and volunteers and it helps the children learn about life from local experienced people.

Are you interested in the story from one of our local volunteers? Check out the video to hear the story from Somalin. She has also written down her experience at COLT and wants to share it with you. You can check her story in both English and Khmer.

Are you also interested in helping out at COLT? We'd like to welcome you to teach the children, to support them emotionally and help them with activities in their spare time.
